Wolfaux (pronounced "WUL-foh") are predators that have the unique ability to shift into the disguise of hoofed animals/ungulates, which which is useful for hunting or deception. Each wolfaux has only one disguise, which be maintained for a period of time that depends on the experience of the wolfaux (after which they must shift back to their regular form). They have a reputation for being devious tricksters, due in part to their skills in hunting and thievery and tendency to hoard items, but this of course does not apply to all individuals.
Their diet consists almost entirely of meat, but they are able to consume other foods in small quantities without any ill effects. Their favorite food is typically the meat of the animal that their disguise mimics. When hunting or fighting they use their sharp claws and teeth, and defend with the thick fur that covers their arms. Wolfaux are comfortable in either a bipedal or quadrupedal posture, and are able to walk and run either way (though they are fastest on four legs).
TRAITS:
- Disguise: Any existing hoofed animal/ungulate (besides fantasy creatures). A wolfaux's normal appearance typically resembles its disguise in some way.
- Head Shape: Any of the three shapes seen above or somewhere in between.
- Body Type: Most commonly lithe and tall, but certainly can vary!
- Eyes: Pupils may be round, slitted, or bar-shaped (like a goat). Irises and sclera may be any color.
- Horns: Wolfaux have 2 horns, which must be the same horns that are present in their disguise. Some wolfaux have no horns.
- Nose: Any canine or ungulate nose.
- Ears: Any canine or ungulate ears.
- Tail: Any canine or ungulate tail (only one)
- Claws: 2 to 4 claws on each hand. Length and sharpness can vary.
RULES FOR CREATION:
1. You may make as many wolfaux as you want for yourself or for sale, or trade/give them away!
2. Please follow the above traits!
3. You can use any colors or patterns, but try not to make them look too similar to any other wolfaux.
4. Do not base your wolfaux on any existing characters or intellectual properties. Design inspiration such as color usage is fine, however.
5. Credit me as the creator of the species.
